Since MPesa, in conjunction with NCBA bank, launched the Mpesa Fuliza overdraft service, Fuliza has now become very popular among Kenyans. Fuliza service allows you to buy airtime and complete any MPesa transaction even if you don’t have enough funds in your account, provided the balance lies within your allowed Fuliza limit.
To be eligible to use Fuliza, your MPesa account must have been active for the last 6 months. If your MPesa account is less than 6 months your Fuliza limit is initially zero.
Before you start enjoying Fuliza services and increasing your limit, you must register and activate Fuliza on your line. Safaricom allows you to increase fuliza limit up to a maximum of Ksh. 70,000.
How to Increase Your Fuliza Limit
To increase your Fuliza limit quickly, you can follow these steps:
- Confirm that you have no outstanding Fuliza balance. Ensure that you have repaid any previous Fuliza M-PESA loans in full.
- Next, dial *234# on your MPesa registered line. This is the USSD code to access M-PESA services.
- Select Fuliza M-PESA from the menu options. This will take you to the Fuliza M-PESA menu.
- Now, select Opt-Out from the Fuliza M-PESA menu. This will temporarily deactivate the Fuliza service on your account.
- Dial *234# again to access the M-PESA menu.
- Next, select Opt-In for Fuliza M-PESA. This will reactivate the Fuliza service on your account with a higher limit.
By opting out and then opting back in, you are actually resetting your Fuliza M-PESA status. The system may review and increase your limit based on your transaction history and MPesa usage.

You can also use the MySafaricom app to increase your Fuliza limit:
- Open the MySafaricom app
- Tap on the M-PESA menu
- Select Fuliza M-PESA
- Tap on the big red button that says OPT-OUT
- Go to the MPesa menu again and select Fuliza M-PESA
- This time select the option Opt In
- Your new limit will be displayed on the screen
Remember, while these steps may help you increase your Fuliza limit more quickly, it’s also crucial to continue using M-PESA and Fuliza services frequently and repay all borrowed Fuliza M-PESA loans on time by topping up your M-PESA account.
This will show Safaricom that you are a responsible and active user, which can contribute to future limit increases.
