Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is a tertiary institution registered under the Ministry of Education and accredited by the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Its mandate is to offer technical and vocational skills in artisan, craft, certificate, and diploma courses. The institute also offers professional and short courses like ICDL and CPA.

At KIST, students have the opportunity to attend classes through both the physical mode and e-learning platform. Continuing students can access the online learning platform by following this link: https://elearning.kist.ac.ke

Intakes for new students are done in January, May and September.

How to Apply for Courses at Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology

You can apply for courses at KIST in two ways:

  1. Applying directly on the KIST registration portal by filling in the required information and submitting the form for approval.
  2. You can also apply through the KUCCPS portal and later on download your admission letter on KIST students portal.

After successful placement into the institution, you can download your admission letter on the students portal page. You will then enter your 11-digit index number (without the year) in the admission letter search box and click search.

If your admission letter is posted, it will appear after doing the search. Just click download. New students can download and print the fee structure on the same student portal page.

Continuing students can just insert their institution’s admission number and hit search to display their current fees.

You can now go ahead with online admission to the institute by visiting the students portal, click on Register Now button, and follow through with the instruction.

Requirements for Registration and Admission into KIST

All the following documents must be in PDF before being uploaded to your profile during registration:

  1. Digital passport photo in soft copy
  2. Scanned copy Birth certificate
  3. Scanned copy of KCPE certificate
  4. Scanned Copy of KCSE certificate
  5. Scanned copy of KCSE Result Slip
  6. Scanned copy of High School Leaving Certificate
  7. Scanned Copy of ID/Passport
  8. Scanned copy of bank payment slip
  9. Scanned copy of signed KIST Medical Certificate Form that should be downloaded, printed, filled and
    signed by a medical doctor.
  10. Scanned copy of Kist Declaration Form, filled and signed.

Courses Offered at the Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology

Diploma courses at KIST require a minimum of C- (Minus) at KCSE while craft courses require a KCSE mean grade of D+ (Plus).

Certificate courses at KIST on the other hand require at least D (Plain) in KCSE, while artisan courses require just a KCSe certificate (grade E).
