Bandari Maritime Academy (BMA), formerly Bandari College, was established in 2018 by the government of Kenya through Legal Notice No. 233 to be a centre of excellence in teaching, training, scholarship, innovation, and research in maritime skills.
The college is mandated to offer industrial-oriented courses that develop academic and vocational skills that provide the maritime labour needed for sustainable growth of the Blue Economy.

Bandari Maritime Academy Courses, Qualifications and Fees
The main examination bodies for the courses at BMA are the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), London, NITA, KMA, and NTSA.
Here is a list of full-time regular courses offered at BMA, fees and minimum qualification requirements. Be informed that the fees may change without our knowledge. Therefore, check the current fees on the institution’s website.
1. Diploma in Marine Engineering (DME) Module I
This diploma course requires KCSE C- (Minus) or Craft Certificate in Marine Engineering (CCME). The duration is 1 year per module and the tuition fee is Ksh. 140,000.
2. Craft Certificate in Marine Engineering (CCME) Module I
The tuition fee is Ksh. 125,000 and requires a D (plain) in KCSE. Takes 1 year per module.
3. Diploma in Nautical Studies (DNS) Module I
It requires a KCSE C- (Minus) or Craft Certificate in Nautical Studies (CCNS) Course. Takes 1 year per module. The tuition fee is Ksh. 140,000.
4. Craft Certificate in Nautical Studies (CCNS) Module I (part-time)
Requires a KCSE D (Plain) mean grade and costs KSh. 125,000. Duration is 1 year per module.

5. Diploma in Maritime Transport Logistics (DMTL) Module I
Requires KCSE C- (Minus) or Craft Certificate in Maritime Transport Logistics (CCMTL). Runs for 1 year each module and costs Ksh. 120,000.

6. Certificate in Transport Maritime Logistics (CCMTL) Module I (part-time)
The minimum requirement is a D (plain) in KCSE and the course takes 1 year per module. The tuition fee is Ksh. 95,000.
7. Foundation Diploma in Shipping (part-time)
Requires KCSE C- (Minus) and takes a duration of 1 year per module. The fee charged is Ksh. 45,000. This course is examined by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) London, and intakes are done in April and October.
8. Forklift & Empty Container Handler
Examined by NTSA. One seeking to pursue this 6-week full-time course must have passed KCPE and has a valid Driving License with BCE endorsement. The fee charged is Ksh. 54,000.
9. Terminal Tractor (NTSA)
Takes 8 weeks full time and you must have a valid driving license with BCE and Forklift endorsements. The fee charged is Ksh. 75,000.
10. Toploader/ Reachstacker (NTSA)
Goes for 8 weeks and you must have a valid driving license with both Forklift and Terminal Tractor Endorsements. Tthe course costs Ksh. 130,000.
11. Standard of Training Certification & Watchkeeping (STCW) Mandatory Course
This is a ten-day full-time course, examined by KMA and costs Ksh. 35,000.
Minimum requirements for this course include KCPE (or its equivalent) or serving Seafarers (STCW Ch.VI, Sect. A, Table A-VI/1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, AVI/5 & VI/6.
12. Standard of Training Certification & Watchkeeping (STCW) Mandatory Course – Revalidation
This is a 5-day course designed for serving Seafarers (STCW Ch. VI, Sect. A, Table A-VI/1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, AVI/5 & VI/6). The tuition fee is Ksh. 20,000.
13. Coxswain Level III (KMA)
Requires KCPE (pass) or its equivalent Standard of Training Certification & Watchkeeping (STCW) Mandatory Course. The course takes 20 days full-time and costs Ksh. 135,000.
14. Electrical Installation Grade III
A 1-year full-time course that requires just a KCPE certificate. The course is examined by NITA and costs Ksh. 75,000.
15. Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Grade III (NITA)
This course requires just a KCPE certificate and costs KSh. 75,000. The training takes a year.
16. Welding and Metal Fabrication Grade III (NITA)
Also, a full-time 1-year course that requires just a KCPE certificate. The fee charged is Ksh. 75,000.
How to Apply for Courses at Bandari Maritime Academy
You can apply to the Director/CEO, attaching copies of your Certificates, National ID, and School Leaving Certificate.
You need to download the BMA Course Application Form, dully fill in the details required before forwarding it to the institution. The courses at BMA are provided subject to meeting the required quorum.

I would like to join STWC but am not understanding the fee charged and number of days and also does it have weekend and evening classes? if so please let me know.
