Bank USSD codes in Kenya have the advantage of working on any kind of phone, be it a smartphone or any other mobile phone, otherwise locally known as kabambe.

What Does USSD stand for?

USSD in full stands for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data. This is a system that is used to send text messages between your phone and an integrated system like a bank’s network applications.

To access banking services, you have to dial a *, then the bank code, and finally terminate with a #. USSD has the advantage of providing financial services to customers even where there is poor internet coverage across the country.

Mobile banking money transfer

USSD is available 24/7 around the clock, does not consume data, and is a relatively cheap way of enjoying services from your bank from any place there is a network.

You can even open a savings account with some banks and perform direct deposits or withdrawals to the Mpesa account or any other mobile wallet.
