Since MPesa, in conjunction with NCBA bank, launched the Mpesa Fuliza overdraft service, Fuliza has now become very popular among Kenyans. This service allows you to buy airtime and complete any MPesa transaction even if you don’t have enough funds in your account, provided the balance lies within your allowed Fuliza limit.
To be eligible to use Fuliza, your MPesa account must have been active for the last 6 months. If your MPesa account is less than 6 months your Fuliza limit is initially zero.
Before you start enjoying Fuliza services and increase your limit, you must first register and activate Fuliza on your line.
How to Increase Your Fuliza Limit
To increase your Fuliza limit, Safaricom’s formal advice to customers is to continue using M-PESA services often and repay all borrowed Fuliza M-PESA loans on time by topping up their M-PESA account.
But if you feel this might take a very long time before you raise your Fuliza Mpesa limit to a good level, you can follow these steps for a faster approach.
Warning! This option might reset your limit to zero. Raising the Fuliza limit from zero again will take quite a long time.
Here is how you can increase your Fuliza Mpesa limit:
- Make sure you are a frequent user of MPesa and Fuliza services and you repay your Fuliza loan on time
- Also, confirm you have no withstanding Fuliza balance
- Next, dial *234# on your MPesa registered line
- Select Fuliza M-PESA
- Select Opt-Out
- Dial *234# again and select Opt-In instead
You should get a higher limit if all went successfully.
You can also use the MySafaricom app to opt in and out of Fuliza:
- Open the MySafaricom app
- Tap on the M-PESA menu
- Select Fuliza M-PESA
- Tap on the big red button that says OPT OUT
- Go to the MPesa menu again and select Fuliza M-PESA
- This time select the option Opt In
- Your new limit will be displayed on the screen
