Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology is a public TVET institution located in Bungoma county and offers technical and practical oriented training in diploma, certificate and artisan courses.  SIST is situated in Bungoma County, Bungoma South Sub County, and 7 Kilometers South East of Bungoma town, along the Bungoma-Nambacha-Kakamega road.

The institute also offers KASNEB accredited courses and short courses in various disciplines.

Courses are majorly examined by KNEC, NITA, CDACC and KASNEB. Students sit for internal exams which contribute 30% of the KNEC total marks.

Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology General Course Requirements

Diploma courses require at least a C- in KCSE, while certificate courses require a minimum mean grade of D plain.

Artisan courses require an E or D- in KCSE or just a KCPE certificate.

Other general requirements on the day of admission to SIST are:

  • Original and two  photocopy copies of KCSE Certificate
  • Original and two photocopy copies of KCPE Certificate
  • Original and two photocopy copies of Leaving Certificate
  • Original and two photocopy copies of National ID card for both parents and students
  • Original and two photocopy copies of Birth Certificate
  • FOUR COLOURED passport size photos
  • Two (2) spring files
  • A ream of A-4 size foolscap paper (Kasuku)
  • A ream of A-4 size printing paper (80GSM)

How to Apply for Courses at SIST

You can apply for courses online on the SIST website https://sist.ac.ke. You will be directed to fill in the required information and the course you wish to pursue.

You will then be required to upload copies of your academic documents before submitting the application form.

You can also apply through the KUCCPS student portal and qualify for the government’s TVET sponsorship of Ksh. 30,000 per year out of your fees.

Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology Fee Structure

The fee per academic year is Ksh. 56,420. Students placed by KUCCPS will pay Ksh. 26,420 per academic year after the government’s capitation of Ksh. 30,000 per year.

You will be required to pay sh. 14,100 for term 1, sh. 7,590 for term 2, and sh. 4730 for term 3.

These fees do not include external examination bookings.

Fees shall be paid by Bankers Cheque, Money Orders or direct deposit to the Institute Account No. 1102026212 Kenya Commercial Bank – Bungoma Branch. (Confirm account before paying!)

The institute provides accommodation at Ksh. 3,000 per term on FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.

New Students to pay Ksh. 1000 as caution money, Ksh. 500 for student ID, and Ksh. 300 as the Students’ Council membership fee.

Students proceeding to Industrial attachment will pay a fee of Ksh. 2, 000, payable a term before the attachment term.
