Becoming an Airtel Money agent in Kenya is quite simple and only needs you or a company to meet the requirements set by Airtel Kenya. Airtel Agents earn a commission whenever a customer deposits or withdraws money using Airtel Money at the agency kiosk.

Airtel Money Agency is more rewarding especially if you add the product to your existing business and this should be in a busy area where you are likely to get a lot of transactions.

You can become an Airtel Money agent as a sole proprietor (partnership) or a limited company.

Airtel Money Agent Requirements

Sole Proprietorship/ Partnership Requirements

You’ll need to provide the following documents during the application process:

  1. Duly filled out Airtel Money Agent Application Form, provided by Airtel Kenya.
  2. Certified copy of Business Name Registration Certificate.
  3. Certified copy of owner or owners’ National Identification Card or Passport.
  4. Certified copy of KRA PIN certificate.
  5. Where applicable, a certified copy of VAT Certificate.
  6. Coloured passport photo of the business owner or owners.
  7. You should at least have one outlet and not more than two.
  8. There should be a capital of at least Ksh 15,000 for each outlet.
  9. A functional email address.
  10. A valid trading license.

Limited Company Requirements

Limited company application as an agent requires the following documents:

  1. Duly filled out Airtel Money Agent Application Form, provided by Airtel Kenya.
  2. Certified copy of Certificate of Incorporation.
  3. Certified copy of KRA PIN Certificate of the Company.
  4. Certified copy of VAT Certificate of the Company, if applicable.
  5. Coloured passport photos of at least two Directors of the Company.
  6. Certified copies of National Identification Cards or Passports of at least 2 Directors of the Company.
  7. The company must have one or 2 outlets.
  8. There should be a minimum capital of Ksh 15,000 for each outlet.
  9. A functional email address.
  10. A valid trading license.

How to Apply and Get Registered by Airtel Money

  1. Verify that you have all the required documents and present them to the nearest Airtel Center or  Airtel representative.
  2. You can also scan the documents and send them to Airtel Money via the email address: [email protected].
  3. The email should have your business location details for an Airtel official to visit you. You can also call Airtel on 111 on the same.
  4. Airtel Money will send a representative to your outlet to help you through the next steps.
  5. After successful approval, Airtel will issue you with a  SIM card, and an Airtel Money representative will train you on how to use it.
  6. Airtel Money will also issue you with all the required POS materials and user guides.
