The Kenya Post Office Savings Bank, Postbank as commonly known, was established in 1910 and is regulated by the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank Act Cap 493B of the Parliament of the Republic of Kenya. Postbank Kenya has since grown to establish a network of over 96 branches in Kenya.
Postbank is fully owned by the Government of Kenya and is primarily engaged in the mobilization of savings for the purposes of national development.

Since Postbank Kenya is regulated by the Kenya Post Office Savings Bank Act, interests earned on customers’ deposits at any of the bank’s branches do not attract taxes. This is in contracts to other Commercial Banks in Kenya regulated by the CBK.
